Swine Flu and the Media
While this swine flu is very unnerving, it’s important that people know that this virus does not kill everyone it comes in contact with. Just take a look at what has happened to the first person the swine flu has attacked:
Mexican officials also said they believe they may have found “patient zero” — the first case of the global outbreak — in the small mountain village of La Gloria.
Edgar Hernandez, 5, survived the earliest documented case of swine flu. He lives near a pig farm, though experts have not established a connection between that and his illness.
Edgar has managed to bounce back from his symptoms and playfully credits ice cream for helping him feel better.
I wish the media did a better job of calming people down instead of creating more of a hysteria. We need more stories of the people who have contacted it and are fine, instead of photos like this plastered every where:

Heading into Tuesday
Monday wasn’t so bad. Aside from being absolutely slammed at work, I managed to stay on track with my goals for the week. A long day at work was followed by another 3 hours at school, which was followed by Genie forcing me to watch Twilight. I haven’t seen her so addicted to something as she is to this Twilight series. She read all four books in less than a week. Anyways, I’m glad she had me watch it, as it gave me a glimpse into what she’s been reading and ranting about lately. The movie itself was pretty good, and I look forward to watching the next one on the big screen with her.
On a side note, I stopped at Arby’s on the way home from class. I’ve been wanting to try one of those Roastburger’s since I first saw the ad. My advice, stick to the beef and cheddar’s. You know, the standard stuff they serve. The roastburger was very disappointing.
Another bright spot of the day? The Dodgers beat the Padres, 4-1.

Pumped for a Great Week
It’s going to be a good week, I can feel it. I’m excited for a few things. For one, I’m excited that Easter is coming up. Spending time with Family, watching Bella hunt Easter Eggs, and remembering the Easter Basket that Genie gave to me when we first met are some of my fondest memories. I’ll never forget it. The first Easter that Genie and I spent with each other she showed up with a huge Easter Basket filled with Dodger easter eggs that she painted and wrote “LA” on herself. She also included the “Encyclopedia of Baseball”, that I still go back and read from time to time. She sure knows how to tug at my heart. Here we are 6 years later (5 of them married) and she’s still the same giving person as she was then.
I’m also excited about a book that my good friend Frank loaned to me called “The Purpose Driven Life” by Rick Warren. I read the first chapter tonight (you are suppose to read one chapter a day for 40 days), and I have a good feeling about what this book is going to open my eyes to. I’m thinking I might post my thoughts to some of the questions that you get at the end of each chapter, but I may want to keep that to myself.
Baseball Season starts again! The Dodgers open up in San Diego, then head to Arizona. You can bet Genie and I will be at Chavez Ravine for the home opener!
I’m going to try and build off the great week of work I had last week, and spend 99% of my free time (when I’m not at work or school) playing games with Bella, helping Genie around the house, and studying to stay ahead in my classes. The other 1% I will spend farting around on the computer or playing the 360. I’m really going to limit the amount of time I “waste” this week and see if I go to bed feeling more satisfied each night.
I hope everyone has a great week, and if I don’t post again until after Sunday, have a great Easter!

On My Toes
This is the first year in recent memory that I woke up knowing it was April Fool’s Day.
Here’s a good website that lists some of the best April Fools Jokes being passed around this year. It actually dates back to the most popular jokes being played on the web since 2004:
