2007 World Series (Boston Red Sox vs. Colorado Rockies)
vs
Alright, well it looks like we have the Rox and the Sox in the Series this year. I was pretty good with my playoff predictions this year, but I’m not going to gloat. I hate it when I hear somebody like Steve Hartman (AM 570, CBS 2) make a prediction and then have it come true. Then I have to listen to him pat himself on the back for 3 hours. Well, what about the other 321 predictions you were incorrect on? It’s not a prediction, it’s a guess. Yes, I did say Boston would in in 7 and the Rockies would beat the D’Backs, but it’s nothing to congratulate me about. I’ve been wrong on 100 other predictions this year.
I’m excited for the series this year because we have a National League West team in it. There’s nothing better than to see a team with the 25th lowest payroll (out of 30 teams) compete in the World Series with Boston who has the 2nd largest payroll in the league. The difference is staggering, Boston pays it’s players a total of $143,123,714. Whereas Colorado is “only” spending $54,424,000 this year on it’s players. You can see the Red Sox payroll here: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/teams/salaries?team=bos and the Rockies payroll can be viewed here: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/teams/salaries?team=col.
Now, I’m not hating the Red Sox just because they can afford to pay all these salaries. Heck, I’d be elated if Frank McCourt put a team like that out on the field. But I will be pulling for the Rockies because they are full of players who have never been here before. I would love to see Todd Helton and Matt Holiday when a title. Baseball is very cynical, we know the Red Sox can be here again next year, but the Rockies could easily wind up 4th in the West. If it wasn’t for this crazy run they have been on the last month, they wouldn’t even be here. The way they are playing is fun to watch, and I think they can pull this out.
Joe’s Prediction: Rockies in 6

Bella’s 1st Dental Visit
Well, today Bella makes her first visit to the Dentist. I think at age 2 1/2 she’s ready.
It’s crazy how many kids I see who are 3 or 4 and they already have silver teeth or really bad decayed teeth. I end up feeling really bad for those kids. I don’t know if their parents don’t have insurance or the money to take them to the dentist, but I just hope it’s not due to the parents being negligent about that aspect of their child’s health.
Well, we’ll see how it goes. Hopefully she enjoys the dentist more than I do.

Get Me Home
We all have days where we just want to go home and crawl under the blankets. Well, today is my day to feel like that. It’s a shitty feeling to be confined at work when all I feel like doing is seeing Bella laugh, or holding hands with my wife, or even having one of my 4 cats sleep on my face.
I spend the better part of my work day seeing my co-workers get questioned for everything they do. They are made to feel stupid for things they have done correctly. Around here, there is really no such thing as praise. Everything you do here is questioned, and even when you’ve done something right, you are still asked why you did it the way you did. This is a very unrewarding environment to work in. I feel for my co-workers because I see them progressing and really trying hard, yet it doesn’t seem to be good enough. It’s so bad that I even cringe when I hear them ask questions because I know there’s a good chance it’s going to be turned around so they end up looking stupid.
We aren’t allowed to be creative, we aren’t allowed to freely think, and the man behind the curtain truly believes he is never wrong. Sometimes I wonder what I’m doing here.

2007 MLB Playoff Predictions (League Championship Series)
Well, I was 2 for 4 on my Divisional Series predictions. Now onto the League Championship Series:
vs
Well, well, well. It looks like the NL West isn’t so bad after all is it? That’s all you ever here from people on the east coast. It’s great to see two NL West teams in the League Championship Series. I keep thinking that the Rockies are going to have to run out of steam sooner or later. I believe Arizona has the better team, but the Rockies are on fire. The Rockies proved me wrong against the Phils, and they are the team I want to see win it all.
Joe’s Pick: Rockies in 6
vs
I see this series going 7 games. The Red Sox have the experience and I think this is what will carry them into a World Series matchup against the Rockies.
Joe’s Pick: Red Sox in 7

2007 MLB Playoff Predictions (Divisional Series)
vs ![]()

The Rockies and Phillies are riding a wave of momentum unlike anything we’ve seen in recent memory. The Rockies have won something like 14 of their last 15, while the Phillies have come from about 7 games down to win the NL East. I would love to see the Rockies advance and represent the NL West, but I just don’t think their pitching will hold up.
Joe’s Pick: Phillies in 4
vs
Red Sox? Check. White Sox? Check. Now it’s time for the Cubs to win a World Series so we can stop talking about curses and fans interfering with balls in play. That’s pretty much the only reason why I want the Cubs to win it. However, Arizona is a team that can catch fire and sweep a team like Chicago. Of all the first round matchups, this one interests me the most. I see the D’Backs winning the first two. Then the Cubs winning their two at Wrigley. In game 5 Brandon Webb will pitch a complete game and the D’Backs will be off to the League Championship Series. Which means we have to deal with talk of the stupid curse for another season. As long as Lou Pinella has at least one tirade it’ll be well worth it.
Joe’s Pick: D’Backs in 5
vs
Guess what Los Angeles of Anaheim by way of the 57 FWY in Southern California Angel fans, it’s not going to happen this year. I’ll make this short and sweet. Angels will be swept. BoSox pitching is going to shut down what’s left of the Angel offense and 2 of the 3 games won’t even be close.
Joe’s Pick: Red Sox in 3
vs
I don’t despise the Yankees as many people over here in SoCal do. In fact, I think if I had to choose between them and the Red Sox, I would pull for the Yanks. Maybe it’s the pinstripes or just the fact that they have an owner who will do whatever it takes to put a winning team on the field. Why do people hate the Yanks? Wouldn’t we all want an owner like Steinbrener? Anyways, I think the Indians can win this series. However, I also see another Red Sox/Yankees matchup in the League Championship Series. So, I’ll pick the Yanks….BARELY.
Joe’s Pick: Yankees in 5
